Cayce Urriah — Post 6 Grrrl
by Alphaville Herald on 15/06/10 at 11:54 am
[Occasionally Post 6 Grrrls are recommended to me by friends, occasionally by readers, and sometimes by the boss, as was the case with Cayce Urriah, which only serves to underscore that Pixeleen has great taste. Cayce was a joy to work with, and a lot of fun to photograph. Without further ado, I get out of the way and introduce the gorgeous and kickass Cayce Urriah, Post 6 Grrrrrl. ~Timothy Morpork]
Hello Alphaville! My name is Cayce Urriah, and I’m happy to be here!
I’ve been in SL since late 2005, with various accounts, and I’ve enjoyed the Herald since I first found it.
In Second Life, I spend most of my time role playing in Star Wars sims as a Mandalorian clan chieftain. I usually wear the same outfit – my armor, but can occasionally be seen in a military style coat and formal outfit, or a tank top and armored jeans.
However, I’m not all about role play. I’ve belonged to varied organizations in SL. I’ve been a member of both the Justice League Unlimited, as well as a member of Woodbury University. At different times, of course. Through them, I’ve learned that there is no black and white in the world. While some members of JLU may be report happy and seek to undermine SL’s governance system, they’re in the minority. And while some members of Woodbury may grief, the majority of them are just mild trolls who seek to build awesome things and hang out with their friends.
The things that keep me in Second Life is my friends and family. I know that no matter what’s going on, I have people who I can rely on, and who can rely on me. Role play, in that same aspect, transcends fiction, because even if I’m having an explosive argument or drawing guns on someone, it’s still all in fun, and I’m making friends with the person behind the character. In that same way, my clan of Mandalorians are family in more than fiction, they keep me going and focused.
Second Life is a world of illusions, but I’m still happy to be here, because sometimes when the illusions part, you can see the heart of the people you’re talking to, role playing or doing business with.
All in all, I’m happy to be here.. In SL, and in the Herald. People may talk badly about the Herald being a gossip rag– but that’s only part of it. And that still makes it great.
Thanks for having me, Tim and Pix!
Cayce Urriah, out.
PS. If anyone is interested in checking out Star Wars sims, I recommend:

Well, I’ve never been very fond of the whole “guns and sex” thing . . . but arguably that is only implied here.
Well-written, Cayce. And you display a nice sense of perspective.

That’s rather amusing, Immy. I gave some thought to criticizing the scar.

Wellsum I’m a wonderin’ iffn we’s gots us a Wolf in the Fold here. What youall are lookin at an thinkin is some kind of future warrior girl is really bees bein one slick Mangina. Iffn you take out your copy of that thar JLU WIKI, yep that thar leaked one what you can find over at jlu.sl4.me, and then once you have yur JLU WIKI open and ready to go and all, you run down that thar coloum of goodies until you come to the Cayce Urriah entry. There you find out that whats what.
Cayce Urriah bees bein an alt fer a man named Micheru Mathys. Micheru Mathys maintains his JLU status as an External Operative to this day accordin’ to that thar wiki. Overt JLU membership wus dun transferred to Urriah some time back who then dun quit the JLU supposedly. Nice try dude.
This bees bein one slicky tricky dude what runs the Max Money financial exchange, werks fer that thar JLU and dressus up like a gurrl.

In the context, Cayce — which in this case is “military” — there is nothing particularly wrong with the scar. Which is why I DIDN’T criticize it.
In general, I am sensitive to the appearance of bruises and abrasions on a woman’s body, because they are most often, in RL, markers of physical abuse. And in SL, they are sometimes used to represent that as well, as part of RPing rape and other forms of abuse.
They occasionally are used here as well as a sort of “fashion accessory,” as though it were sexy or cool to look as though someone had kicked the shit out of you — sort of like heroin chic. I dislike such uses of bruised or bloodied skins because I think that they desensitize us to what such things almost invariably DO mean in real life: that a woman has been subjected to physical abuse. There’s nothing “sexy,” cool, or chic about that.
However — all that said — the reason I didn’t criticize your use of it was that you are wearing it in the context of combat RP.
Personally, I don’t much care for the kind of “toughness,” in women OR men, that your scar is supposed to signify (“Yeah, I got cut, but I can take it, and give it back too”), but I can appreciate, at least, that it’s not the same as representing a woman who has been merely victimized.

Woo Hoo! Now *that* is one badass chica! And one that knows you don’t have to go out of character to be sexy. Great write up too…
I love you look, Cayce…scar and all.

@Hobo Kelly – Yes, I have male characters and female characters on more than four accounts. So what?
@Scylla – The scar’s an inspiration from two anime characters by Lejii Matsumoto, Captain Harlock and Queen Emeraldas. Both space pirates who fight for their own independence against all comers. My character’s scar is an homage to them as inspiration for integral parts of her personality.

@Kelly – Oh, and no. I am not related to the JLU in any way. I formally resigned when I joined Woodbury. Micheru was given external status when I transfered my membership between alts, but that should have been removed.

Hi friend, it’s nice you were featured. : )
It’s kind of disappointing that you didn’t have your great “cuntpuncher” armor featured.

Uuuuuh. A wolf in WHAT fold? Woodbury’s gone except for the handful of dummies that still respond to my trolling in the Herald.

Though I will say this, the stuff in the JLU’s wiki is apparently really in depth, and if you think about it, pretty impressive whether you agree with their reasons for collecting it or not. The page on Woodbury University itself was a real eye opener.

Scars are souvenirs of living real life.
And just because they’re on a female body does not mean that she received it as the result of being a victim.
Some women play hard. Some women get their hands dirty. Some women kick ass.
