Tizzers Trolls Twitter: Microsoft <3 Second Life

by Pixeleen Mistral on 01/10/10 at 10:32 am

Media depends on echo chamber for "news"

24 hours after Tizzers Foxchase placed a single post on Twittera little birdie told me that Microsoft may have silently offered tp buy Linden Lab this weekthe outstanding quality of reporting in the internet age is all too apparent.

TizzersTrollsTwitter
Tizzers Foxchase Trolls Twitter

While successful trolling of a few minor blogs is to be expected, this rumor had legs – much to the dismay of long-time Linden Lab sock puppets and favored sources for quasi-official Lab leaks.

For instance, just imagine Tateru Nino’s dismay at being upstaged by the notorious Tizzers Foxchase – a player repeatedly banned from Second Life and member of The Wrong Hands faction. While Tateru has always played the Lab’s good girl, Tizzers has chosen a more colorful approach to her gameplay and  should not be underestimated. The Wrong Hands exposed both Linden Lab staff collusion with the Justice League Unlimited vigilantes and the disgraced Emerald viewer developers.

What else could Tateru do but grit her teeth and point out that it could be true – even if the source might be suspect. And so we witness a perfect meta-gaming storm as frantic-to-post bloggers and minimal research create a no-lose situation for Ms. Foxchase. The evidence? Mary-Jo Foley of ZDnet took the bait along with Kevin Parrish of Tom’s Hardware.

Is Tizzers Foxchase the ultimate industry insider – or the author of one of the most successful Second Life trolls ever?

“Is Tizzers Foxchase the ultimate industry insider – or the author of one of the most successful Second Life trolls ever?”

No. And, no. Neither one. Stupid journalist trick giving you a question that can only be answered favorably for the subject at hand.

Everybody knows Tizzers uses the Pixeleen account to write articles about himself on the Herald. Time for that mask to fall too, fuckwad.

That is hilarious! I saw the thread titles on the SL site, but didn’t pay any attention to them. Something like that would have been “officially” announced, wouldn’t it? Anyway, I check a few other places for my morning news and just came across the following on Massively!

“Rumor: Microsoft making a play for Linden Lab”

Here’s the link so you can go see for yourselves >> http://www.massively.com/2010/10/01/rumor-microsoft-making-a-play-for-linden-lab/

This after they paid no attention to M’s departure or the lowering of age to 16 *laughs*

and so what did you prove with this?

The ultimate point proven here aside from blogger gullibility is one of metaverse hubris. When one considers that SL and LL are the backwaters of a internet backwater… who would reasonably want to be interested in this tired old technology and outdated cartoonish world. Please give me a break… Second Life is crumbling and if you don’t blink you might actually see it go. With a roughly stable population of a few tens of K of people and a general lack of interest by the public as a whole (if not actual disdain for the yiffing and Gor’ing). Just to frame this in a little tighter, I am reasonably sure most folks don’t know what either a furry or a gorean is but they are more likely to lump them together as internet perverts. Regardless, the world of SL might be hugely important in your minds but to everyone else it isn’t even worthy of comment let alone wanting to expend the needless effort of purchasing the next AOL/Prodigy/Compuserve. SL is dead. Get over it.

I said it time and time again… Micro$oft is going to at some point take a real look at the 3D virtual online environment. Just like they did when they created “Internet Explorer”. They arrive after the fact and tried to take over with the browser wars. OOPS I mean did take over.

IBM & Intel are in with OpenSim and M$ has a dislike for Open Source. If IBM & Intel see something in 3D environment why wouldn’t M$? So the most likely direction for M$ to get involved?

Or this could just be a lot of BS! Hey but it was fun speculating. -_-

You mean Mark McaHill(or however it’s pronounced).

    And two things:

Personally, I’ve had unfavorable conversations with representatives and help desk people at MS,but I’ll just wait and see what happenswith this. It wasn’t piss poor unfavorable, so yeah, I’m not too against it, but…..I just kinda don’t give a shit really.

I will say this. If someone was planning to start their own virtual world it would be smart business to buy up Second Life, junk it, and mine the customer list for early adopters. That is, you eliminate your competition and get a great prospective customer list all in one stroke.

Wellsum, I reckon I would gurd my grit fer sum kinda blowback from them thar powers what be that might not have found this too funny I reckon.

Im still thinkin them thar rumours about Microsoft buying SL are true. Windows98 stripped down with a mere 12 of them thar base system proceses runnin, will run OpenSim like lightning, and has been for some time. Shucks I was runnin 16 sims on one 98 box and it was fast. Somes of them thar folks are runnin 25 on a box. One fake world builder had nearly 200 of them thar regions runnin on a notebook befer it run outta that ram.

Iffin ya had the idear where you were Microsoft, you could buy that thar Linden Lab and their massive server farm and all of that thar user genrated content, wellsum I reckon then you all would be the Keeper of the Assets where all the millions of users out there when they run that OpenSim on their ‘puters will have to direct their asset servers to point back to Microsoft Second Life.

That way a million of them thar fake worlds will bloom on desktops and laptops the world over and all yer fake junk will be available to ya wherever ya goes.

There be 3 of them thar servers what you have to run to have a OpenSim world. 2 of them run on your home computer what is running your fake world. And the 3rd could too if you wanted your own private virtual world. Butt um, iffin youall wanna be part of a big grid youall have ta let go of your own asset server and point yer world at the GRIDS asset server.

That thar Asset Server is the one bottleneck what wont scale. Its the one part what has to have 30,000 or 3 million Sims all havin to work offin the same Asset Server Computer.

So Iffin Microsoft bees bein like a froggie and Jumps and Buys Second Life, wellsum they will be punkin’ Intel and IBM’s OpenSim to some extent ‘cuz then OpenSim will always have to come back to big daddy Microsoft to get Asset Service.

Of course its gonna be a race for popularity. Who will build the biggest and bestest grid what everybody wants to connect to? And has the most Assets? Iffin IBM were to suddenly come out with a GRID bigger and better than SL, then maybe their Asset Service would gain default status and that thar new world of virtualness would be theirs cuz everybody would flock to their asset services.

But what if Microsoft Jumped first, knowing this, and went for that thar gobble gobble on SL thereby getting the biggest and bestest GRID and Asset Service ready to go no work needed? Keep the monetary system in place, keep the mainland, encourage people to create their own Virtual worlds for free on their own boxes, add hyper-teleports to go from world to world to world to world…

Microsoft would prolly have to figure out how to sell commercials either inworld or on the browser somewhere to be able to offer it all free. They would have to have something that Lindens don’t have. Some kind of magic or something that Lindens don’t have, or else why couldn’t Phillip do it??

    Buy it up Microsoft.

Why did the Crazy Cat Lady cross the road?
To get to the other hides…

    Uri,
SL is too valuable at present to be worth the investment of buying it to wreck it. If I were going to launch my own virtual world, I’d first spend a lot less money paying hackers and other miscreants to grief and copybot the shit out of all the content, destroy the economy, and I’d use bots to spam everybody with emails informing them about my new world and why shit like griefing and copybotting wouldn’t happen there. That would cost about a hundred bucks to accomplish.

Oh yeah, someone else is doing that already…

Well Hazim is a nice person as far as I know, and I feel bad that I was used by Emerald to DDOS his site… So what he made Inertia Source code, or has the source code from Second Life Professional Edition which was passed to a friend of mine who was banned many times, and to him which he rumored to have screwed it up badly.

Anyways I like SLPE, and His Copybot, always will, and I still use it today for legal reasons, and because I can do many things besides thief with such tools, Its not Day Oh’s Fault, Tizzys, OR Harzim that others got hold and abused his code to begin with.

Tizzers to my knowledge has never broken the SL TOS either, and in fact banned many copybotters from woodbury, including myself at one point as I was mistaken for a griefer till I imed her, she was really nice, and I met her in Blue Mars once, really nice. I do not see why Linden Lab banned her to begin with, even if hacking did take place with Emerald this was not within SL Servers, and LL had no right to do such, and this is why I hope IntLibber wins his lawsuit against Linden Lab, and why if for any reason LL Bans me I will SUE them myself for breach of TOS contacts, and for not honoring my first TOS agreement I ever accepted/Scamming me, and removing Thousands of USD worth of content which was provided to me as I owned it. When I joined SL I was made to believe by their TOS that I had full ownership rights over my land no matter what, and that I had rights over all my creations, but since their new TOS I have no rights to my stuff anymore… I quit creating things of what little I did if anything.

The internet just exposes the fact there has never been any “journalistic integrity” and that it’s all bullshit.

Tizzers just demonstrated how full of shit journalism really is.

People dont get into news because they have a passion for it, they get into it for the money, passion doesnt put food on the table unless you’re a prostitute.

Hell, looking back at news prior to the internet, you begin to realize how much of it was probably pure bullshit pulled out of someone’s ass to get ratings. The news also spins up stories to make them more exciting.

The internet just takes the veil of professionalism off of journalism and exposes it as nothing more than high school level gossip.

sometimes it reports on actual events, but 90% of the time it’s all drama generating bullshit intended to get viewers/readers/ratings.

Which is why trolling toms hardware and a few other big tech-centric online news aggregators is so brilliant.

Um, I doubt many sex workers are really experiencing passion on the job, going by the Free Dictionary’s definitions as “a. Ardent love.
    b. Strong sexual desire; lust.” Their customers might pretend so.

You know, reading the above comments is the reason I dont play SL anymore, the users are psychotic and unreasonable failures of real life.

Besides, first life is a much more fun game. I mean both are equally shitty, but the first one has real perks, where the ones in SL are fake and purely virtual, and only exist on hardware.

Now in before someone tries to explain in a nihilist manner that real life gains are also imaginary in a sad attempt to justify, mostly to themselves that second life is somehow better, which defeats the whole point they’re trying to make.

All I wanted to ever do was fuck around in a virtual sandbox, not deal with psychopaths who take a game seriously.
This is why I always tended to like the griefer/troll base in SL over the “normal” players. Did meet a few players who were neither, not surprisingly, they left after a good year or so, coming to the same realization.

Tizzy brought a little more entertainment to a game and a system that takes itself too seriously with this trolling. Getting so-called professionals to go along with a fake rumor and discuss it seriously is always gold, hell The Beatles trolled music analysts with “I am the Walrus” and no one gave them shit for it.

Life is too short to bitch about the small details. Laugh it up, have fun, and realize that not everyone are going to play by your own personal rules.
