Fascination — Post 6 Grrrrl

[When I met this week’s Post 6, I was the one with the deer-in-the-headlights look, because as you can see, she is an avatar that can literally stop traffic. I was thrilled when Fascination agreed to pose for us, and even more happy to learn that she is as nice a person as she is gorgeous. Hello Everyone,
I have been in SL longer than this avatar has. When I created Fascination, it was to check out the one-name deal that SL had switched to. So until I finally broke down and switched to Viewer 2, I was Fascination Resident. Now I’ve just got the single name Fascination which kind of freaks me out as I’m definitely not a one-name kind of diva. I miss having last names with “meaning” here.
Sooo, about me.
Not much to tell. I loved SL because it was nothing like anything I had ever played, except maybe the Sims, but soooo much better! I’ve especially liked outfitting my avatars with their unique looks and personalities. It’s like a mix between being Sybil and playing Barbie- an exercise in split personality that there are pretty clothes for.
Once the newness wore off I kind of cooled on SL, and partly because of the performance of the grid. With each of us having to find our own meaning in this “game” it’s easy to not want to log in when it takes so long for people and places to fully rez. It’s not like Tiny Empires and a sim full of gray people going “Hooooooo” is going to keep me coming back. I mean, I could be watching documentaries about honey badgers instead.
I make it a point not to get too attached to anyone or anything in this pixel world, because I can’t imagine that this business isn’t hemorrhaging money. I usually disagree with every change they’ve made and reluctantly come around to agreeing that the Lindens were right. I hated Viewer 2 for example and now think it’s pretty cool, so maybe I’ll end up liking the fact I can change my name. I am looking forward to the new mesh based avatars and hope that we’ll be able to mess with them like we could with The Sims’ meshes.
When I started here and everything was new, one of the things I liked best was the fact that there were so many vibrant blogs and forums about SL. I used to read many of them including the Herald, so I actually recognized Timothy’s name before he introduced himself. I will admit, it actually was a thrill to meet him- a real “SLebrity” and his beautiful wife too, as dumb as that might sound. I want to thank him for asking me to do this, and for the great pictures.

I think a great story for the Alphaville Herald would be, instead of speculating about the comings and goings of Linden staff, the seemingly MASS EXODUS of Alphaville Herald staff and stories.
What happened, guys? Was this just some fanboy project that you just lost interest on? It reminds me of one of those deserted sims in SL that you stumble upon. I’m looking back through my RSS feed and there used to be a story every 2-3 days on average….sometimes even 3 stories a day. Now it’s just basically Timothy Morpork’s blog of jackoff material for freaks.

I saw Pix lately at sailing-related events, so I guess she found her way back to the good life and only activity that was and still sometimes (on the few days the servers are not totally fucked) is fun in SL: Sailing!
So far I ony caught her standing around at community parties but maybe one day she will step a foot on one of her boats again. Looking forward to beating the snot out of her on the race course
For the Post 6 I gotta admit Fascination is a pretty thing … without elven ears, antlers and hoofs she would be even a bit uncreepy and more lovable.

My last attempt to post here failed for some reason. But here’s attempt two.
This deer/doegirl could be a looker if she’d have a somewhat less “someone just killed my mother” expression. Doesn’t hurt to smile. Or to go easy on the makeup. Looks like your mascara bottle exploded in your face!

Around a 1. Antlers =/= furry. Sort of like how neko ears and a tail =/= furry but they still rate around a 4-5 on the furry scale.

They key concept here is user generated content.
LL gets all its customers to create stuff and hence build the SL environment for them.
Similarly, the Herald gets all its readers to write lots of comments and hence do the writing for them.
Just as I am doing now.

I really like the third picture. Fantastic pose, good light and post-processing work.
Too much makeup… tsk. Didn’t you find any other faults, then she did a good work on her avatar.
