Hi, my name isFlorence Raghilda, my friends call me Flo, and I'm happy to be a Post 6Grrrl. My interests in Second Life are varied, but reading theAlphaville Herald, and especially Post 6, is definitely one of them. Inreal life I am a surgeon, a job which affords me both great stress andoccasional stretches of leisure time, so when I can, I like to log in,decompress, and see what's new.
One of my chief pastimes inSecond Life is to shop, which some of the readers of this fine blogdeem to be an activity only for the mindless. I'll grant you that it'snot brain surgery, (not that I'd know, I specialize in a differentarea), but I find that there is nothing wrong with exploring all of thefantastic styles and artists who produce such wonderful things. Iespecially like exploring areas that are not English speaking- it islike traveling to another country without leaving the couch.
Partof what I like about shopping, besides the escape, is that I canexplore styles and textures and colors that I could never experience inreal life. I enjoy vintage clothing but simply don't have the time itwould take to hunt down all the great things I can whirl around in withmy avatar. If only real life had a search box and teleporting!
Ialso love music, and jazz in particular. There are some great musiciansand even some talented DJs I try to catch when I can. With jazz inparticular it's nice to find a knowledgeable DJ who can dig out the oldgreats, and I've found several such people in SL who share their skillsat clubs and parties. Good Stuff.
Inthe end, SL is a wonderful place full of interesting people. It alsohas its problems, and some people aren't so nice, but all thingsconsidered, I'm glad I found this place and the wealth of culture andcomedy, high-tech wizardry and drama it provides for us all. I hope youlike the pictures, and it was nice to meet you.

Wow, drop dead stunning! What a beauty! Not only does this girl have real brains, but it looks like the photographer may have put a little effort into it this week too. Seriously, this may be the best Post 6 ever. Keep’em coming!

Lovely avatar and a nice bio straight forward and not too long, love your oufits. Love the pictures Timothy. Have to say that full nude shots are not important, the first two were the best. I agree that this is one of the best so far.

Carmen is right. Full nude shots are often just so so. The dressed or partially dressed photos can be a LOT sexier.

Now that’s interesting. Timothy left free-sex island for a moment to actually find a girl with brains. Kudos! To the girl, of course, for her nice write-up and her looks.
No kudos to the photographer who tried to convince us this week that he actually has skills. Picture 1 is a really lousy copy&paste job. I hope the background image is a stock photo and not something ripped off a copyrighted photo site. You can see how badly the curls are cut out at the back of her head. Shame on you, Timothy!
Picture 2 *sighs deeply* Light edges on her hair, a desperate attempt to use liq on her legs and get rid of the jagged edges cause obviously you still haven’t learnt how to take pics larger than screen size. Picture 3 leaves me speechless. Full frontal nudity is only erotic when your name is Helmut Newton and you’re far from it. And the white background? Would only look good if the lady was dark-haired. It’s missing contrast. And the blurry outline of her wrist and hips show that you tried to play in the league of the serious photoshoppers but obviously gave up quickly.
As much as I appreciate to see a lady who’s got style and brains, as big is the disappointment that Timothy still hasn’t read any tutorials. Money for nothing and the chicks for free?

Whatever it is, it fails badly, unless it’s to show readers how to destroy images using photoshop?
Surely there must have been some news that could have been used to fill this space? I hear there was a newbie caging avatars in a sandbox, surely even that would be more worthy of column inches than this banal garbage.

I am in agreement with those who applaud your choice, Timothy, of an evidently intelligent woman. The bio is certainly better written than most of those we’ve seen here of late. And it is nice to hear that the woman behind the avatar belongs to such a demanding profession.
That said, it is a little disheartening to discover that, however well-written, the bio really doesn’t contain much in the way of content that expands beyond that which we have come to expect from frankly less accomplished women. Florence, surely you could have put your obvious intelligence to better use here than you have? It’s nice to see grammatically-correct sentences and all, but the content remains, frankly, banal (to quote “facepalms” above). This is disappointing. Having given us the information that you are surgeon in RL, for instance, why could you not have given us more insight into how that might impact upon your perception of SL?
On this score, let me also just comment on this “shopping” thing . . . It is not that shopping is “evil,” although it can be argued that the excessive consumerism that SL seems to encourage merely contributes to the superficiality of so much here. I like shopping myself; I do it all the time. But were I given only a few hundred words to communicate the “essence” of what makes me “me,” I think I could find better ways to do so than by wasting so much of it talking about my love of shopping . . .

i think she is great and would love to go shoe shopping with her. and if you find that exercise lacking in some deep and meaningful purpose, tough. get over yourselves.

i’ve been wondering lately about this character that often pops up in internet forums saying something to the effect of – ‘if you don’t like it, don’t read it… no one’s forcing you to read this or that…’ etc. etc.
anyone with any genuine intellectual curiosity about anything is going to be interested in all aspects of a subject including views that do not align with their own. only a very ignorant and narrow-minded person would choose to never read anything that they do not agree with.
And there’s the obvious problem – how are you sposed to know that you don’t like it if you haven’t read it? (if only i could unread the post 6 above!)
And then there’s the basic hypocrisy of telling folk that they shouldn’t complain about something they were never forced to read then proceeding to complain about something they were never forced to read.
tldr; marilyn murphy and her ‘if you don’t like it, don’t read it’ brigade are the most ignorant of fools and need get off their high-horses.

i notice that you had not commented here, prior to your response to me. so, what made you feel targeted? unless of course since you always hide behind an unknown alias, you had used another unknown alias to comment.
the people who complain the loudest are those who know exactly what to expect in this feature. like yourself who has commented many times in the past. so, when someone who knows what to expect from a post sixx continually comments negatively over and over, they are either being forced to read something they know they dont like, or are just being assholes. i just checked, LL says there is no like_ummm avatar in second lifes data base.
we are all a bit anonymous, since i don’t use my real life name here either. but i am represented in second life. you don’t even participate. you just carp at people in blogs apparently.

Well, your point is taken, but as I’ve said before, just because this is a fluff piece doesn’t mean that it can’t be intelligent or interesting fluff. If the Herald (or Timothy) isn’t going to make the effort to ensure that the bios are worthwhile, then you might just as well get rid of them entirely, and offer nothing here but a series of cheesecake shots of anonymous naked avatars. I’ve no doubt that would suit a segment of your reading public quite well.

it seems obvious to me that only the most tasteless and dishonest person could possibly force themselves to say anything positive about this particular post 6.
And if post 6 is to continue to be so utterly dismal then it is my opinion that positive comments should be banned – coz sometimes positive comments are just plain wrong.
