AN repulses attack – Herald reporter wounded

The Alliance Navy was attacked on Wednsday morning 1:00am SLT by members of several opposing factions. Members of Titan industries rolled into “The Woofer”, the Alliance Navy sim, using small arms fire and phantom rounds engaging in a small fire fight from the NW side of the sim. Attempts to advance toward the AN HQ were quickly withdrawn as members of the AN held back opposition with heavy machine gun fire and Talon aircraft. Attacks carried on to 1:35 SLT when another attack was reported by security forces at “tethys”, the AN sub HQ.
Members of SOCOM advanced over the draw bridge into a security post where they were met with mild resistance for a short time. After a quick briefing AN Cadets were sent in to clear out hostile forces and to secure the HQ, at which they were quickly engaged by SOCOM forces using high powered rifles and sniper fire. AN troops made haste pushing SOCOM back over the bridge to the front gate where snipers were taking up positions to fire into the AN base. The snipers were later killed by AN marines sent to hold the bridge.
The engagement at “the woofer” however carried on passed 2:20am SLT when Titan forces withdrew and SL commandos, as well SOCOM continued their attempted assault. AN troops dug in,deploying light machine guns and automatic rifles holding back the attack, when this writer (Omega Groshomme) was hit by enemy fire after identifying myself as a reporter when trying to move in for a closer photo. AN cadets fired, neutralizing the hostile forces and pulling me to safety.

While getting medical treatment from 2 rounds; 1 to my arm, 1 to my torso, I tried to carry on snapping pictures of the fight when a sniper round clips my camera leaving only 1 photo left to salvage – that of a AN Marine fighting on to hold back his enemy. The amount of gunfire slowly died down at 3:10am SLT, but sporadic shots, as well sniper fire still continued until 3:40am SLT when are hostile forces were neutralized by officers of the AN using Talon aircraft. strafing the hillside with cannon fire and light bombs.
AN forces held their ground today against a determined enemy, proving their abilities to negotiate tactics as well saving the life of a reporter. Low casualties were reported for the AN, but none were able to be interviewed until the mess is cleaned up and proper intel is received. I am making a full recovery and will be back on the battlefield in no time to let the public know of AN’s progress in the on going war.

this is bullshit. If the heralds going to report about every small assault on the woofer i stop reading the herald. We get attacked several time a day. This is nothing new and i start wondering if this isn’t all about publicity for the AN

War makes for good news. It’s a shame the attitude of the Merczateers TF personnel isn’t as good as it could be, maybe they could get a corrospondent aswell.

Odd that, Kristian. We get attacked several times a day too. The reason I expect this was reported is that it was such a catastrophic faliure on the part of Titan Industries and their buddies. Oh, and Mr Groshomme was just visiting (unarmed, I might add), with no intention of writing an article, when he was viciously spawn-killed by the enemy forces. I can see why it didn’t go down too well.
And Natasha, is anyone making you read this ‘shit’? Kinda reminds me of Inuyasha Deere, who (despite claiming that he was not interested in the slightest) contuned to post raving comments on Mr Groshomme’s previous article.

i’m not complaining about the fact that this article is about the AN istead of Mercz. If you wrote the same article for mercz it would still be bullshit. Second life got millions of inhabitants and you report about something that happens every day.The reason that titan attacked you has more to do with the fact that it is founded by ex-NOI instead that it are mercz allies i think.

Only reason i reported an attack was because of its length. Over three hours i think is pretty good for an organised SL fight,so hense it is on the herald. Get over it.

omega don’t worry about it, only idiots say they are getting sick of reading about something. they are not forced to read it, and it’s not at all insulting like some other articles I’ve seen by other reporters have been like.
look at all the non war articles and look at the comments posted, now look at any of the war articles, there are normally a lot more active then non-combat ones.
so why does the SLH keep posting articles on war issues? it’s the people trying to bad mouth each other, it causes drama people eat up and brings more traffic to this web site.
so if you don’t want to read as much SL combat, don’t read them and don’t post unless you are a hypocrite of course, either way I find that the combat articles the only thing worth reading on the SLH

Nice propoganda. Reporters shouldn’t be armed and sporting Alliance Navy armor. There were about two of the four folks there whom worked for Titan, none of which whom were wearing Titan tags at the time. The “raiding” party secured the field quite nicely before the simulator crashed, at which time they opted not to return– as it is strategically poor to walk into a prepared situation with a small number.
SOCOM, sadly, were only hindering the whole thing with their flying around and firing indiscriminately. They had nothing to do with the others, and happened to be there at the same time.
With all due respects, well written for its purpose. Otherwise, entirely bias.

I do enjoy reading the articles and I like and respect everyone at AN, though I must admit it does get a little boring that the only times I see anything reported like this, its when its happening to AN and its always on ANs side and it undermines everyone else who goes against AN.
But thats just my feelings on it, either way the report was well done.

i have to apologize for one thing. I do like the war articles on the herald and there well written but i didn’t knew someone declined your offer.So i was like ” again an article about AN”. I didn’t want to blame the reporter or something. I just thought. Now are they reporting about little AN affairs, this starts to look like propoganda. sorry i was wrong at that point. I stil think there is greater news in Second life

Wow, I love your typical way of covering up your obvious failures. No matter how many times you guys are squashed in your attempts of attacks or defense, you still come back with the same look of “we won”. “Titan Industries” did not attack you, so get that out of your little heads right now. I acted alone in the fight. Under the tag of the Ordo, just because I felt like it. I was not acting as “Titan”. And, as far as your claims of “Attempts to advance toward the AN HQ were quickly withdrawn as members of the AN held back opposition with heavy machine gun fire and Talon aircraft.” Your people were cowering inside of your base as I pelted the ground with gun fire from my Mamba Raptor, one of the Ordo’s more famous pieces of work. I’ll admit, I got taken out twice bye a Talon. But, I quickly returned to continue the fight. After the continued fight, the sim went under to much stress and ended up crashing, so I did not return afterwards as I did not feel the need to continue any more. Oh, and as for using phantom rounds, if you’re gonna spread slander, make sure it’s truth instead of total lies.

Let me make something straight. CN is NOT, I repeat NOT Anti- AN. We are anti-SLSN because of their rediculous responses to our peace discussion offers. AN happens to be an ally of SLSN, so that is the reason behind LA forces opening fire at AN on the LA/CN/Fed base. If you don’t like the stories don’t read them. If you think they are biased then report your own version, if you can’t do that then shut the hell up. Cause the only decent articles worth reading on herald are the articles on wars.

Alright this is getting ridiculous, I am Inuyasha Deere and I lead the CN. An article on us would be great, but the Grand Federation just attacked us again. We surrendered to the AN, so I don’t think that was nice to attack us, feds. Would whoever is impersonating me and saying that CN has not surrendered, stop it.
