Marathon Battle at The Woofer

AN repulses attack – Herald reporter wounded

The Alliance Navy was attacked on Wednsday morning 1:00am SLT by members of several opposing factions. Members of Titan industries rolled into “The Woofer”, the Alliance Navy sim, using small arms fire and phantom rounds engaging in a small fire fight from the NW side of the sim. Attempts to advance toward the AN HQ were quickly withdrawn as members of the AN held back opposition with heavy machine gun fire and Talon aircraft. Attacks carried on to 1:35 SLT when another attack was reported by security forces at “tethys”, the AN sub HQ.
Members of SOCOM advanced over the draw bridge into a security post where they were met with mild resistance for a short time. After a quick briefing AN Cadets were sent in to clear out hostile forces and to secure the HQ, at which they were quickly engaged by SOCOM forces using high powered rifles and sniper fire. AN troops made haste pushing SOCOM back over the bridge to the front gate where snipers were taking up positions to fire into the AN base. The snipers were later killed by AN marines sent to hold the bridge.
The engagement at “the woofer” however carried on passed 2:20am SLT when Titan forces withdrew and SL commandos, as well SOCOM continued their attempted assault. AN troops dug in,deploying light machine guns and automatic rifles holding back the attack, when this writer (Omega Groshomme) was hit by enemy fire after identifying myself as a reporter when trying to move in for a closer photo. AN cadets fired, neutralizing the hostile forces and pulling me to safety.

While getting medical treatment from 2 rounds; 1 to my arm, 1 to my torso, I tried to carry on snapping pictures of the fight when a sniper round clips my camera leaving only 1 photo left to salvage – that of a AN Marine fighting on to hold back his enemy. The amount of gunfire slowly died down at 3:10am SLT, but sporadic shots, as well sniper fire still continued until 3:40am SLT when are hostile forces were neutralized by officers of the AN using Talon aircraft. strafing the hillside with cannon fire and light bombs.
AN forces held their ground today against a determined enemy, proving their abilities to negotiate tactics as well saving the life of a reporter. Low casualties were reported for the AN, but none were able to be interviewed until the mess is cleaned up and proper intel is received. I am making a full recovery and will be back on the battlefield in no time to let the public know of AN’s progress in the on going war.

Ok, Phantom, I must agree. But the last thing I want is a further ruining of my poor reputation in the SL martial community. Stating things about “the feds attacking us” are absurd, as the CN and Grand Federation Headquarters happen to be the same building, the same base. We share it, we’re allies, get over it.

Helios ,great point,i have been trying to,i want to get the mercz perspective badly myself as well others,but everytime i ask mercz they just dont answer or give me a “we will let you know” run around. So if anyone in mercz wants an interview or coverage on their side,or any other group for that matter,leave me an IM. Reason AN has got the spotlight is because they let me come and go as i please around the woofer with or without an attack…at least they were nice enough to forgive my past attacks on them and let me do this.

The reason feds attacked CN was that I wouldn’t let Sergeant Griffith smoke inside the building….second hand smoking isnt cool guys, seriously.

I think the problem people are having with this article is due to the fact that it isn’t just another “LOLWAR” article, but it’s the SAME groups. Not just the AN taking center stage, but also in part Titan Industries (Who are now engaging in active combat it seems, rather than being non combatants), Merczateers TF, and to a lesser extent the SLSN and CN. I can say there are some smaller, but still very interesting groups out there who could do with some publicity aswell.

I’m personally not so impressed with the AN, after reading this article I was infact intrigued in joining their group, I even sent an application, then while hanging outside the base just to see what is going on their recruits open fire so of course me and a friend take up arms. Within the course of the night we press on and eventually take their fortress, soon after I get a very, very nasty tell from a certain un-named commanding officer there calling me dirty names, and here I thought this was all in fun? After all this he resorts to cursing and name calling. Where is this so called training and elite force now? It seems like more of a rag-tag band of hooligans rather than some trained army.

Hey guys I went to that place, and you know what they hate white people. Hello everyone I am one of the commanders of the second life sky navy firstly I would like to commend on a well written article from the herald no one is forceing anyone to read it so deal with it secondly CN are the biggest liers in sl after declaireing war on SLSN when we never encounterd them SLSN attacked in force and CNs commander inuyasha surrenderd after 5 minuites of gunfire if anyone would like proof of this please IM steve319 cao in game for an unedited chatlog and as for CN slsn has no issue with them but its a shame that they have a complete mental patient commanding otherwise good men but getting off topic good article and well writted

I for one can tell you the HC of the AN are all adults, unlike you. sure some of the members do like having fun and make asses out of them selfs by running around in underwear (yes I know of the event he’s talking about too) and yes the AN hates Star wars geeks, it’s about there lack of creativity I believe is the selling point, next in line are gor’s and even the yiffy furries. are all equally discriminated against(and when I say that I mean poke fun at, the Star Wars geeks just have damage land to play on).
oh and as far as planet side, I liked it, but like all games it gets boring after a while.

I\’m not entirely sure why people are condemning the AN for their topless exploits. Hell, the fact that they are regarded as the strongest military presence on the grid but they -still- have time for antics is testimony to their outlook. If they really were the evil, all-conquering group they were made out to be, wouldn\’t they spend their spare time finding other groups to whack, instead of dressing up as cheerleaders (Oh s**t, sorry Rob ;D).
Heard the story of the AN-ASP? In a response to Mr Anthony Lehane creating his \’pistol-whipping\’ Five-Seven, what do they go and do? Go one better, of course. A gun that you can physically throw at your opponent? Excellent. There really could not have been much serious thinking behind this. As far as I can tell, AN personnel like to have fun as much as any man/woman.
And to whoever is impersonating Inuyasha: Seriously, get some balls. If you don\’t dare post under your own name, what hope have you in RL? I expect you\’re the kind who refer to yourself with your SL name, in world or out. Either that, or make your comments more believeable. Directly contrasting everything the real Inuyasha believes is not a great way to integrate yourself into one\’s identity.
Finally, to the real Inuyasha: Why not write under an alias? I certainly do, and you\’ll probably find people take you more seriously.
