Beyond the Void Announces an in-world Concert Tour.
Enough with the sensitive new age guys stumming their little guitars and whining about a little lag. Away with posers like Ben Folds and phakers like Jay-Z. Screw the losers pining away for that glorified wet dream for accountants known as Duran Duran. We finally have a band with some edge to it in Second Life. German goth rockers Beyond the Void have announced a “tour” of six second life venues. I haven’t been this happy since I learned about the dark poetry readings in SL.
Here are the tour dates. Press Release is below the fold. Some tunes are here. Hail Satan!
Mo. March 26th 2007 13:00, Tempt an Angel

Being among the very first bands to tour “Second Life”, the dark rockers of “Beyond The Void” discover a path of the future, which could easily become the new promotional tool of the music industry. The booming virtual world of “Second Life” already is home to 4.6 million “residents” according to www.secondlife.com, and bands like U2 and Duran Duran have performed there already. New is the aspect of a rock tour – six “Beyond The Void” concerts are established, tour will be continued:
Mo. March 26th 2007 13:00, Tempt an Angel
Fr. March 30th 2007 14:30, Club Gothic
Sa. March 31st 2007 12:00, Deutscher Gothic Club
Tu. April 10th 2007 23:30, Hot Licks
Sa. April 14th 2007 23:30, Club Gothica
So. April 15th 2007 14:30, Castle Rock
Times are Second Life Time = Pacific Standard Time = GMT -8
The band members’ “avatars” perform, animated and styled, on virtual club stages while the pc-speakers of the audience members boom with the band’s mp3-streamed sound. “Second Life provides another possibility for us to make people enjoy our music”, says keyboarder and “Second Life” pioneer Rudolf. “Both the atmosphere of departure and the creative freedom are contagious. With just a few clicks we can try new things, from styling over wardrobe to decoration and special effects. Real life is much more rigid and complicated in that matter, of course.”
Second Life is free of charge, but it requires a registration and a 30 MB software, which is available as free download at www.secondlife.com. The system requirements listed under “Support” should be noted, as not every system is compatible.
“Naturally, a virtual live concert is just an entertaining illusion and can only simulate the experience of a real concert, not replace it”, vocalist Daniel admits. For those who prefer the real thing, Beyond The Void provide several traditional live gigs, with the big names of the darkrock genre:

Can’t someone set things straight in the media — Duran Duran have never even had their avatars show up in SL, never mind perform a concert. It was all a PR ploy that failed.

yeah goaway, I’ve decided that Duran Duran making their fans wait for them to appear *is* the performance. It’s like a participatory version of Waiting for Godot.
