Never Forget. /b/tards pay respects to the permabanned.
Forlorn and despondent and more than a little suicidal after being cast to the street when the Lindens shut down Woodbury University, the never-say-die /b/tards of 4chan’s /b/ board (not to be confused with 7chan’s /b/ board /b/tards) have fashioned a new home in the sky over Eon (249, 102, 630), bending pixels with their bare little virtual hands and fashioning a place that’s one part Elvis on acid and two parts post-apocalypse New Jersey.
Yet it is not all ripple wine, jug handle U-turns, and plastic roses, as even during my visit the /b/tards were forced to fight off terrorist furries, annoying wannabees (which they directed to eBaum’s World), and the stigma of alleged associations with 7chan, the Patriotic Nigras (or PN), and 4chans that lose it and do things like make dirty bomb threats against football stadiums and crank call the greatest entertainer of our era: Tom Green. Pen Philbin, Ralewyn Gray, Jeeves Lazarno and several other members of the crew were kind enough to give me a tour of their new digs. They assure us,(i) it will not be a griefer base, that (ii) they don’t overlap much with the PN, (iii) the PN is dead anyway, and (iv) the PN also never existed, and that (v) 7chan is fail fail fail. So there.

No. A /b/tard is a /b/tard no matter the origin. They’re all the same and they all pass between the various /b/ boards on the Chans. A Channer is a Channer, they all claim brotherhood under Anonymous. This mumbo jumbo that one isn’t the other is misleading. Anonymous is Anonymous no matter what.
I’m starting believe, Uri, you’re simply putting these stories up on the Herald because they get more hits and comments then any of the other stories. You’re giving these Anonymous types the attention they love and crave and fueling your own pagehits using them.

My heart contracts when I see old Uri going to get out there to get down with the young folks — the peeps, the b/tards, the PNs, which is of course what they are — by donning his title “Mack Daddy,” which comes from, I dunno, some ’70s disco song title played before these kids were even born.
And when I see those jet packs on Uri’s frail shoulders, like some sort of badly-textured version of the 2003 Camp Linden backpack jetpack, I realize I can’t *hate* Uri, but just feel bad for him. Feel bad that it’s come to *this*. *Blinks*. I mean, the bukakke was bad enough, but breaking bread with Ralewyn?

Yes, I would like to “right the Herald any time” — to make it right. It’s not right when you have to post your story to “draft” and queue it up, and it has to wait for clearance from Pixeleen. It’s not acceptable.
It’s a matter of trust and collegiality. If you can’t trust people to voluntarily come to you with problem stories, as in fact I always did with both you and Pixeleen, you can’t have a paper like this. It’s just that simple. If you funnel it all through one person like Glavlit, it defeats the purpose of trying to be relevant and have breaking news, and it means there isn’t a spirit of cooperation.
If you want to give little homilies about being nice to people, Uri, I’d start with a) yourself, being a dick and not answering Skype IMs or any kind of IMs or emails; b) standing by while Walker issues these smarmy little missives demoting me to “junior reporter” (*rolls eyes*) and imaginating that’s about being “nice” and not a “smackdown”; c) standing by while Pixeleen remains passive in the face of blatant threats and attacks on a reporter and the paper. someone mentioned something about the fact the buildings we constructed in eon we have are “freebies”. well, even if they are cool looking, i beleve we should make our own buildings and get our own unique flare. i will mention that to the rest.

So…There are 3 people who have posting privileges (previously 4–me). You 3 can directly post if need be; those of us “junior writers” *rolls eyes* who need to be “vetted” have to post in DRAFT. The system only allows for DRAFT. Now…*do* tell me that YOU are only allowed to post in DRAFT, and can’t press PUBLISH NOW. Go on, Uri, tell me that. Because if you are *voluntarily* sending drafts to Pixeleen but can still press PUBLISH NOW, then that’s a very different thing than having been toggled to PUBLISH NOW.
I also very much doubt that you are being queued behind anyone else, as your bukakke stories get top billing and everyone else is behind them.

Frankly, the real issue as I’ve explained before is that Pixeleen goes and re-reports stories of mine without telling me, putting up propagandistic pieces or allowing subjects covered critically to suddenly have expanses of air time. That’s a serious, serious problem. I don’t think it’s fixable.

These things are resolved not by forcing everybody to knuckle under to a dominatrix with a funnel called DRAFT status for everyone but by having *GASP* a meeting — even one — in which it is explained which kinds of stories should go first, so that authors will look at the news of the day, look at what’s up, and decide if they really should be stepping on it or not. Stories like bukakke should be saved for the absolute slowest of news days and Yet Another Fashion Puff Piece by Tienshe has to be rigidly paced every 7th story or something or put on a weekly schedule. A lot of this could be solved by saying “IF it’s Tuesdays, it’s the economy story because it’s payday” or whatever.
But why bother trying to explain the obvious. When there isn’t good will — as one can see from Walker’s letter — it’s just not there.

I’d like to take the opportunity to announce that everyone here is fucking wrong.
Reading the large quantities of fail in here I have to clear some things up.
4chan is not
- A cyber terrorist organization hell bent on busting your tubes, what people seem to be doing is taking a small populace of 4chan and considering it to be the larger people. This is like saying that everyone on the sl forums is a griefer because a few people grief.
- a cult, we do have a “religion” but it’s a meme just like all the others and is by no stretch what the anonymous truly believes.
- linked with the other chans, it’s a fairly known fact that all the chans dispise each other and would not be caught dead surfing each other’s /b/.
That being said 4chan is
- An Anime Forum with a fairly large user base.
nothing more and nothing less.
Anyone who doesn’t know this is probably a carry over immigrant from one of the countless forums or websites we have inadvertantly spread our culture to and as such needs to lurk moar.
P.s. I’d like to clear up the matter of our relations with intlibber. Neither Woodbury University or the /b/rotherhood (the two groups responsible for the aforementioned build) work for or have ever worked for intlibber. There is no big conspiracy or SHOCKING REVELATIONS to find. For a while one of the Woodbury replacement bases was situated on intlibber’s land. during the last night of it’s existence we had a party as libber deleted the base. Libber joined in the festivites and proceeded to give me 1300 spacebux so I decided to create a tag within my own group showing my unending devotion to him(and by that I mean kiss his ass).

Urizenus, you should indeed be ashamed for silencing me by not standing up for the right of reporters to report a story without having their sims crashed and hate campaigns waged on them. Sure, in the name of free expression, let them hate away, but at least publish an editorial standing up to bullies who threaten you with libel suits totally speciously, and who force you to moderate comments!
And…um…it’s not about “not liking a boss”. It’s about people in a shared enterprise who don’t have to like each other, but feel the shared enterprise is greater than these petty animosities. I’ve always felt that way about the Herald.
But if the editrix reports out a story again behind your back, without consultation, or frames it in a propagandistic way, or gets information on a story and doesn’t share it, or refuses to publish it, what have you got? You have a back-stabbing petty little drama fest, who needs it? I want to report the story of Second Life, not play Amazon Roller Derby with Pixeleen. If I can’t report it here without that kind of crap, I’ll report it elsewhere. For me, getting the story and reporting it is very important, and if I have to take a third of the readers, fine.
You failed to admit whether you have PUBLISH NOW or DRAFT, and Uri, that is lame, lame, lame, wimpy and P.S. you’re a pussy.
You evidently haven’t been following the story assignment “process” here at the Herald. Here’s the formula:
1. Readers clamour for coverage of awful griefing stuff, island resale scandals, trouble in elf-land — everything — people write in alarm inworld — the Herald is a public service for them that they see helping to right these wrongs
2. Reporter Prokofy goes out to cover them, writes one story, publishes it.
3. Reporters colleagues *cough* at the Herald mock, ridicule, snipe and sometimes poach the story.
4. The griefers and scammers bombard the Herald with spam and hate comments; Prokofy ignores or fights them off — the editors do nothing
5. The editrix assigns the story to the griefer or their sympathizers to play “always fairly unbalanced,” but in reality to balance the saddle bags for herself so she isn’t harassed.
6. Feeling vindication, the ankle-biters and gangsters and griefers grief some more, everyone piles on, and then airspace is given to some of the chief ankle-biters, too.
That’s not being a newspaper, that’s being a sixth-grade slam-book. You’re old enough to remember those! Sister Sylvester always confiscated those from us. Where is she now?!

Prok, I have no idea what a sixth-grad slam-book is, but in seventh grade I co-edited a newspaper called The Oink: the Voice of the People. When the Principal confiscated it and threw it away there was a big line of readers at the garbage can.
Anway, hope you’ll start contributing stories again, but if not I respect your decision. Well, sort of.

If three of you have PUBLISH NOW and I don’t — and for that matter none of the other regular contributors don’t who are clearly known quantities now — why not?
A slam book is a book in which people hastily and anonymously write something nasty about it, slam it before the teacher sees it, and passes it on.
I can only contribute stories when we all equally have the PUBLISH NOW button. One can still call for *voluntary* sends to Pixeleen if it seems like there’s too many stories, or a particularly sensitive/controversial story. But if I have a scoop like the actual confirmation of the Ginko’s closure, which I did in fact scoop in the blogosphere (even though Hamlet was sycophantically saying Duranske pwned the Ginko story — he published rumours of the bonds but not the confirmation from the floor when it happened) — I want to be able to post it immediately on the Herald if I work for the Herald for the lousy $3.70 US per article. Otherwise, I have to grind my teeth while Pixeleen is served her artichoke salads and cornish hens, and the Blingsider gets the story.

Prok, given that I have access to the administrative account I *can* publish now, or in the year 2020, or before I was born, and if I want I can change all of your posts to say “I love Aimee”. I can also change all of Pix’s stories to be love poems to you. But I don’t do that. What I do is post my stories in draft form for Pix to edit and post when she deems appropriate.

Uri, what is your reason for not allowing a trusted stable of writers to have direct posting permissions, which they use with voluntary submission when needed, and collegiality (which, like being “nice” isn’t a disease, but a job requirement)? Pick one or all that apply:
1. Fear of libel suits
2. Fear of PN spamming
3. Desire to keep content at at least 30 percent bukkakke/big black and hard/griefer gore/furryfanfic
4. Ability to undercut Prokofy’s hard-hitting reporting on the economy, griefers, the FIC, etc. by enabling the stories to be queued up indefinitely as Pixeleen pastes in the griefers’ propaganda
