Historic Hyperborea Sim On the Block

Irreplaceable archeological artifact threatened by sim sale – Herald to relocate HQ?
by Pixeleen Mistral, National Affairs desk
Ending months of speculation, Wandering Yaffle confirmed he is seeking a buyer for Hyperborea sim – home of the Herald’s in-world corporate offices, _blacklibrary, and the most civilized sandbox in Second Life.
Although he was not willing to commit to a definite timeline, Mr. Yaffle told me he hopes for “a preferential buyer – one who will keep the faith, whatever that is”. We can only hope a sensitive buyer will emerge, although it seems likely that the character of Hyperborea will change and the community scatter.
Historically significant Leninade bottle at the entrance to the Herald's Hyperborea office
Meanwhile, metaverse archeologists are deeply concerned about the fate of an extremely rare Leninade soda bottle owned by perma-banned resident Tizzers Foxchase. The priceless bottle was unearthed on the Herald’s property and is almost certainly the only way to call up the profile of late Ms. Foxchase, along with a pick that points to the original Woodbury University sim before Linden Lab destroyed the island.
While inspecting the priceless Leninade bottle, Wandering Yaffle described the history of the _blacklibrary and his sim:
Wandering Yaffle: In the old days the Blacklibrary was built on charity
Wandering Yaffle: lived in a sim won by a game development team
Wandering Yaffle: then when their time was up, I started a business here under an alt, and the money from that bought the sim and paid he tier
Wandering Yaffle: but then shit happened out here in the real world
Wandering Yaffle: but I kept this place paid for, cos everytime I peeked in there were people who were putting shit together in this place and just because I made a place for them to do it
Wandering Yaffle: not that I take credit
Wandering Yaffle: just, like watching stuff go on in your garden
Hyperborea, _blacklibrary, and the Herald have long been associated – several Herald birthday celebrations were held at _blacklibrary, and the Herald offices in Hyperborea were once the scene of violent resident protests against former Herald junior author Prokofy Neva.
Hyperborea 2007: a "Fire Prokofy for Libel" protest – before the shootings and furry intolerance
“good luck to them all, I hope they found something they'll want tokeep in their heads, but the guy that made the library ain't here nomore and I can't keep paying hundreds of dollars a month” – Wandering Yaffle
Will a buyer step forward? Those interested in owning a piece of Metaverse history should contact Wandering Yaffle or Sally Seattle. For now, the Hyperborea sandbox continues to draw regulars – but for how long?
where will the community in the sandbox migrate to next?

Would have loved to buy this sim, just to have the satisfaction of returning your items & selling the sim on to someone who wants to use it for something remotely useful.

If the “community” is so worried about where they might go then why dont they buy the sim? and a historic bottle made by whoever get a grip this guys rl money is involved here so whatever the history, move on and let it go or spend your own cash!

It’s a very good thing that the Justice League got Tizzers Foxchase wiped from the grid. Soon, they’ll have Tizzers’ next alt erased, too.

That’s a shame. I like the black library. I go there from time to time to read, but I never really explored the rest of the sim very much.
If you loose the bottle here is the link to bring up Tizzers profile in world. Just copy-paste this into chat and click the link and his profile will come up: secondlife:///app/agent/8ec80baa-3b87-44f7-8b6f-3de59298af1b/about
Also, I run Whitmyre Island, which is Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s honors college sim. We also have a very civilized sandbox and we have been trying to come up with something to do with our video area that takes up 1/4 of our sim and goes mostly unused. If you have a project that is of academic interest and you are displaced by the closing of Hyperborea just shoot me an IM. We might be able to accommodate you. The major limitations on an academic sim are that the sim is PG and must not be used to engage in commerce.

It’s not like Tizzers is an ID/Age verified concierge level resident and knows half of the governance team IRL or anything.
Wouldn’t that be something?

Nice try, Intlibber.
By the way, what does this have to do with the story?

I mean, it’s like somebody just stuck Tizzers in this just to get his name in front of everyone again. Drama’s over, the PN are gone, you’re gone, Tizzers is a ghost in the machine. Nothing left. “Oh boo hoo, the kid I suckered into buying my failed business wants me to prop him up, I guess I’d better do something, since I still have to share an apartment with him.”
Yowch.

I like how nearly every time I see a Witness X post, it’s him screaming about how ‘gone’ Tizzers is.
Gone from everywhere but Witness X’s own mind, it seems.

I like how easily little Alyx trolls, too. Never fails.

Hmmm…I have just been visiting this sim.
If this sim doesn’t make money then no sim in sl makes money to cover the tier.
Since this is an older sim the tier is probably 195us$ or 52500l$ per month.
There are minimum 20 land parcels on the sim.
If each of them pays 650l$ per week the tier for the sim is covered.
Or has everybody free land over there ?
