Second Life land squatter takes a virtual walk for charity

My friends told me that my first article was so good you'd like more. Here. Me and a friend went to check out the Relay for Life in Second Life. It's pretty cool. I recommend you check it out, but don't go there and be a douche, or plug up the track because this is about cancer, which is not funny.
They give you a pedometer and you walk around a track. We were there for the survivors and remembrance laps. If you've ever been to a Relay for Life Walk irl, you know it's pretty powerful stuff.
They also have a buddy walking thing, like a chim so that one person actually walks and everyone else gets dragged along like a collared slave. It's handy so that you can type and shit while you're logging laps. You can see how many avatars have walked laps here: http://slrfl.maintree.com/
Like the real life Relays for Life, Relay for Life in Second Life has areas where teams can camp. I hung out at the weenie wagon while my friend walked a lap in remembrance, and then went on about some typhoon she saw. I missed it, because I was taking pictures of myself. I did also get one of the people walking.

I really should know the difference between socialism and communism, as you said. I know quite exactly that I’m not a communist. Still a socialialist tho. Since social democrats are too soft and moved too far right hubby and me are voting a bit more to the left now. In these times of decreasing conservatism we can’t be soft with those egoists.
Socialised health care really does ring a bell for me. It’s one of the better parts of the social insurance we have in germany and many other EU countries as well. Has nothing to do with socialism, or marxism/communism tho. In fact the guy who invented social insurance was Fürst Bismarck, an empirical general and chancellor under emperor Wilhelm II (or somesuch) in the late 1800s. And Marx hadn’t written his communist manifesto yet when Bismarck invented health-, pension- and unemployment insurances.
Yes, it crossed my mind that you’re using your gun for sport shooting instead of killing people. Still I, as a pacifist, try to stay away from everybody owning a gun, that’s a principle of mine. Most of the gun-owners I know are not nice anyway, so no loss.

And in general europe after WW2 can’t be compared with the EU of today. Right now we have our problems but in the EU it’s the small Greece going bankrupt, while on the other side of the pond it’s the “world leader” USA facing the abyss.
Just FYI, I’m not an expert on economy but indeed have a university degree in eastern european history. So I know a bit more than the filtered “info” your TV channels are feeding you.
And no, I don’t expect you to be impressed … just to acknowledge the fact that you have been lectured and shown your place by people far superior over you. That’s all.

Look it up, at the time we were allied with the Soviets against the Nazis. It was not a warning shot to the Soviets it was a death blow to the Nazi regime. And to Hitler himself. What kind of medication are you on?

The Soviets were, They did not have their back against the wall they attempted to put all of their former allies backs against the wall. That child is why NATO was formed in the first place. To put the Soviets in check. And also to stop them from doing exactly what Hitler attempted to do.

Hey, I didn’t claim they didn’t start the blockade. They did so indeed. But you maybe know the action and reaction principle, do you? No smoke without fire … and so forth. Have you read about what happened before and why the soviets started the blockade? Obviously not. Because then you’d know there is always more than one side to every story.

Also, while yes, the American rocket program, just like the Soviet rocket program, was largely based on collecting German scientists, many of them became US citizens, because it’s a lot nicer here than there. In fact, on April 15, 1955, Werner von Braun became a naturalized citizen of the United States. So, yes, he was an American.

I ignored the FIA crediting Wright bros for the simple reason that it is *irrelevant* smartypants. The discussion here is not about making the first powered flight but about the *invention* of flight and the aircraft. Now, how about you adressing my previous question Batman?

Seriously, shall we argue about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin next?

I can’t say much about it, I’m like 15 years or longer out of uni and school even longer. But from the little I know about the US system it’s super easy, just tick the right boxes in multiple choice tests, don’t get any ideas of your own, just stick to the system and be a good pupil.

I think you’re underestimating just how financially and politically powerful corporations have become in comparison to mere government. Apple might be based in America but it’s not owned *by* America. For these giant corporations and special interests, their lobbyists and PAC dollars influence our government in ways we can’t imagine and frankly don’t want to know. They steer American domestic and foreign policy, and have done so for a good part of the last 110 years or so. What’s your point?
My point was that because America is still the best environment to start and grow a business in the world, America will continue to be the dominant player in international business.
